Welcome to the first blog post to express my feelings in pictures rather than words. I’m too busy to write out a witty text entry, so I leave you with pictures. This is how I feel right now:
And lastly,
Wash, rinse, repeat and repeat and repeat and repeat …..
What a wonderful app! Wordpress for the iPhone and iPod touch allows me to update my blog on the go, without having to be on the Internet all the time. Due to my upcoming international trip, I think I’m going to put this little app through it’s paces. I can type up my story during the day, and just find a WiFi hotspot at night to upload all of my posts! And yes, I’m using the Wordpress iPod touch program right now to type this post. This will be my little experiment to see if it works!
Some time has passed since my last post about college, and I thought it would be best to update you about how I have adjusted to college.
First off, I am happy to report that the initial headache that stemmed from my school’s Financial Aid Office has subsided a little. Even with our inflated dollar, I still managed to actually make money my first semester here by having financial aid over and above the cost of attendance (thank you high school transcript and caring private donors!).
The Modern Dollar
Never the less, the classes are interesting, the professors are hard to understand, and the Honors College is one of the best organizations I’m in. Forget about Knightcast for moment, the Burnett Honors College at UCF. Not only is this the center for all of my vast printing needs (did I mention how awesome free stuff is?), the people are genuine, intelligent, and all-around awesome. Even though many people from my high school also came to UCF, socializing with them has become a chore. With the exception of the random friends showing up from out of state, the “new” people I’ve met in the Honors College have taken up much of my social time. To be honest, I don’t think I would enjoy UCF as much as I am now had I not been a member of the Honors College. It is just me, through and through, from the Social Media lectures (yes Mom, my teacher told me to go on Twitter in class), to the lunch meetings with influential central Floridians, to the small classes that easily shrink down this huge school and give a more one-on-one feel. There is still something I miss about high school though; the random bouts of approval:
100% + Smiley Face = Awesome
With all of the activities I’m doing now, that has not stopped me from keeping my head on the horizon. There is always that one extra club, the one additional executive position, the single “extra” even that you want to tack onto your day, but all you’re missing is that lone additional hour. That is the predicament I see myself in. For those who know me, you are all aware as to how many activities I like to dive right into. Who knows where I might be at the end of these four years? Director of Knightcast? President of Hillel? Symposium Team Leader? Only time will tell. For now, I’m enjoying my freedom and having a blast at UCF. Go Knights!
Summer is here at last! School is out, the beach is calling me, and college is right around the corner. This is the time for fun in the sun and parties with friends. And I’m doing just that. College in a month!
Keep posted here for updates on my site DJCDubbs.com. It now includes a Contact Me page to request songs during the show (or other rantings you may have) and may have a website redesign before school begins. If I’m bored enough, no code remains untouched.
What comes to your mind when you read the following statements: an upturned tie, a pointy-haired boss, cats in Human Resources, dogs with glasses, and carpeted walls? The Dilbert comic strip by Scott Adams has become one of my favorite comics of all time (behind Calvin and Hobbes, of course). Dilbert has found the way to tap into the souls of the overworked cubicle worker and techie in all of us. Ever since my grandmother read Crabby Road, a strip about a highly opinionated woman named Maxine, to me when I was very young, the daily comics have remained a guilty pleasure.
I have always enjoyed reading Dilbert in the comic strip form, such as the one below. By bookmarks are filled with my favorite comics, some of which are below. Now I get Dilbert delivered daily in the newspaper, animated online through iTunes, and archived through my daily Dilbert calendar. Am I obsessed? Ask my 20th anniversary collectors book that question.
